Big Ticket was founded on a fundamental question: Why does the $2 trillion commercial insurance industry resist large-scale digital transformation? The challenge was never a lack of technology, but the absence of a standardized infrastructure that connects all stakeholders.

Big Ticket bridges this gap with a neutral digital infrastructure that unifies the global risk and insurance ecosystem. Much like how credit card companies connect banks, merchants and consumers for effortless financial transactions, it introduces a framework that transforms how corporations update their exposure data and how brokers and insurers manage their entire book of business. Big Ticket ensures seamless communication, secure data exchange and offers a foundation for innovation.

“No other entity has built an infrastructure at this scale,” says Ken Fraser, co-founder and President.

Built for full-scale adoption, the Big Ticket platform (BTP) migrates commercial insurance data spreadsheets to a unified digital ecosystem. Digitizing and structuring exposure data from outdated systems enables real-time collaboration and more informed decision-making, eliminates inefficiencies, enhances risk assessment and improves underwriting precision.

"Designed to be inherently customer-centric, the platform delivers a seamless, secure and efficient experience,” says Rob Bartlett, co-founder and CEO.

Over a century of combined leadership experience in broking and underwriting has gone into building the platform, reinforced by strong support from key industry organizations.

“Big Ticket isn’t just built for the industry—it’s built with the industry,” says Tim Bird, co-founder, Product & Operations.

Airmic, in the UK, has played a pivotal role, with its CEO chairing Big Ticket’s advisory board. A 12-month pilot with Aon and Zurich Insurance Group validated the platform's capabilities , with Zurich actively contributing to its development from the early stages.

Gaining rapid traction across North America and Europe, Big Ticket is expanding globally, adapting to diverse regulatory frameworks and market structures. It is designed to be multi-country and multilingual with a focus on serving mid-market and large global businesses.

A Breakthrough in Exposure Data Management

The Big Ticket Platform delivers secure, real-time, permission-based data exchange that centralizes and digitizes exposure data at scale. By streamlining the process, it enhances collaboration across the insurance value chain.

The industry currently spends around $25 billion each year processing exposure data through repetitive, inefficient methods. Additionally, uncertainty around who has data access compromises security, threatens data integrity and weakens market efficiency.

Big Ticket's structured, permission-based exchange eliminates these concerns. The platform digitizes an entire book of business in a single operation, creating a digital risk register that brokers and clients maintain collaboratively on the platform in real time. This approach streamlines operations for global, national and large regional insurers and brokers while restricting information access to authorized participants only.

Designed to be inherently customer-centric, the platform delivers a seamless, secure and efficient experience.

The impact extends beyond insurers and brokers. New opportunities are emerging in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market. Institutional investors and venture capital firms rely on exposure data to evaluate and price risk, but outdated data-sharing practices have limited their ability to engage with confidence. Big Ticket enables investors to explore digital ILS structures with greater transparency, expanding investment possibilities and fostering industry-wide innovation.

Designed for rapid adoption, the platform supports hundreds of thousands of users while integrating with third-party insurance functions. Its intuitive, user-friendly interface and robust help center removes adoption barriers, allowing for rapid onboarding and empowering brokers, buyers and insurers to understand the data points and their relevance. Brokers using the platform can invite clients and prospects to their BTP via email, while risk managers can control data permissions within their organization as easily as configuring a messaging group.

Automated data processing and the ability to pre-populate data at scale significantly reduces turnaround times and eliminates manual entry. What once took up to four months can now be completed in four weeks, and large global firms have seen renewal timelines reduced from six months to six weeks.

Setting a New Standard for Data Quality

Improving data quality is the platform’s defining advantage. Across the US, UK and Europe, exposure data completeness ranges from 31 to 35 percent, creating challenges for insurers, brokers and risk managers in assessing exposure and securing favorable terms. While the initial projection for the Big Ticket Platform was a 50 percent improvement in data quality, it has exceeded expectations, with users achieving an average data completeness of 65 percent on their first attempt.

Big Ticket does more than fill gaps. It provides comprehensive tracking of client activity, offering insights into how users interact with their renewal data. It captures instances where clients validate existing information without making modifications, distinguishing between modified data and reviewed data.

Visibility into data completeness serves as a powerful motivator for improvement, as demonstrated by a CFO who recorded a 35 percent data completeness score for 20 years, unaware of the inefficiency this caused during renewals. After using Big Ticket for a single renewal cycle, the company’s score exceeded 90 percent. The CFO immediately focused on identifying any remaining gaps, reflecting a stronger commitment to precision and thoroughness.

Efficiency gains were equally impressive—her team's renewal preparation time decreased from six weeks to six days, eliminating the need for temporary staff. By pre-populating data and highlighting discrepancies, Big Ticket's spotlight on missing data transformed how the team managed renewals.

Powering AI-Driven Risk Models with High-Quality Data

The market currently factors in an estimated 20 percent rate increase due to uncertainty surrounding data quality. More accurate data is changing this dynamic, empowering brokers to challenge insurers for better terms, conditions and pricing and enabling insurers to benefit from a better return on their risk capital.

High-quality data is also helping to unlock the potential of AI in insurance. Poor data has long prevented automation and predictive analytics from delivering meaningful insights. Big Ticket is solving this challenge at scale, ensuring AI-driven risk models and automation tools operate with greater efficiency and accuracy.

“Big Ticket’s success stems from this mutually beneficial ecosystem, where clients, brokers and insurers all stand to gain from improved efficiency and transparency in the insurance process,” says Bartlett.

Redefining Risk Management with Seamless Data Integration

In syndicated placements where multiple insurers share a single risk, fragmented exposure data across disconnected systems creates inefficiencies that delay underwriting, claims processing and regulatory compliance. With insurers often operating as many as 20 distinct platforms, data inconsistencies drive up costs and complicate portfolio risk assessment.

Big Ticket’s API-driven integration enables seamless data exchange across these systems, eliminating silos without disrupting existing infrastructure. This connectivity ensures instant access to standardized, high-quality risk data, including COPE details, building valuations, social inflation trends and climate risk analyses. Integrated global geocoding further enhances precision in coverage assessment, minimizing gaps and improving decision-making.

Claims processing also reaps significant benefits. Loss adjusters typically face weeks-long delays while insurers determine policy terms and coverage limits. With instant access to exposure information, brokers using Big Ticket can filter data by location and generate immediate reports for adjusters, cutting claims adjustment time to just 24 hours. The result is faster settlements and an improved experience for policyholders.

Big Ticket's standardized data approach has proven valuable for clients in critical situations. For example, while most submissions ask the client if a building is sprinklered they do not consistently request details on its type and specifications. Absent this detail the insurers cannot provide the appropriate and deserved credit on their rate. This inconsistency in the industry’s non standardized use of spreadsheets highlights how inconsistent data collection methods across the industry can significantly impact coverage terms and pricing.

Big Ticket’s standardized approach to exposure data collection overcomes these challenges, allowing for early identification of missing details to eliminate critical gaps. This structured approach is also proving invaluable in high-risk areas such as terrorism insurance. Aggregating and structuring exposure data enables insurers to assess vulnerabilities more effectively and determine coverage terms with greater confidence.

The Path to Global Market Dominance

Big Ticket is expanding rapidly. The company is seeing increased adoption across the sector, with major brokers and insurers now on board. Billions of dollars in insured values are already being processed within the US and UK property sectors, with casualty lines set to integrate later this year and more lines of business on the horizon.

Future plans include tackling one of the industry’s biggest pain points, premium reconciliation and payments. Settling payments for a single policy can take years, particularly when issuing coverage across multiple countries. Big Ticket’s digitized exposure data and metadata sets the foundation for faster reconciliation once its payments functionality is fully developed. In collaboration with its strategic investor Mastercard, Big Ticket plans to establish a global clearinghouse for premiums and claims. This will eliminate bottlenecks, accelerate transaction speed, remove significant frictional processing costs embedded in the industry and consequently create new revenue and margin opportunities for its key industry partners and Big Ticket.

  • Big Ticket isn’t just built for the industry—it’s built with the industry.

Further enhancing its value proposition, the company will expand integrations with third-party applications, creating an ecosystem that enables development of new digital marketplaces and customized insurance solutions. Allowing brokers to unify third-party providers, insurtechs and internal capabilities within a single platform fosters a viral network effect to accelerate growth and enhance the benefits of a connected ecosystem.

"No other entity has built an infrastructure at this scale"

In parallel with these improvements, Big Ticket is modernizing workflows within the insurance industry, a critical step in attracting and retaining talent. Many professionals entering the field expect to engage in meaningful, analytical work, but often find themselves stuck with tedious manual tasks like spreadsheet management. Big Ticket transforms the work environment by digitizing workflows and introducing more intuitive, automated processes to create a more engaging, dynamic work environment.

Building the first truly global digital infrastructure for commercial insurance, Big Ticket isn’t just improving workflows—it’s reshaping the industry's future.
