Tim Johns is a veteran IT professional with four decades of overall experience, including 25 years in cybersecurity. He began in the 1980s working with mainframe systems, later transitioning through client-server environments with deep experience across Microsoft and Novell platforms. In the late 1990s, he shifted his focus to IT security, building expertise in firewalls and emerging security architectures as the field matured. Over time, he specialized in cybersecurity governance and compliance, working extensively with frameworks including ISO 27001, ISO 31000, ISO 42001 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. His experience spans highly regulated environments such as healthcare and banking, where he supported physicians, attorneys and C-suite leaders with security, risk and compliance initiatives.
Outside of work, Tim is devoted to his wife of 32 years and his daughter. He is a longtime tennis player and enjoys spending time on the court and with his dog, Charles.

Effective IT Leadership: Mentorship, Sacrifice and Better Decisions
In the 35+ years in this industry, I have been very fortunate to have had a few great mentors that were leaders in technology and healthcare.
Personally, I consider myself very lucky to have been a part of their vision and learned along the way what it takes and the sacrifices we make in IT. IT can very quickly become a stressful environment just based on a single decision made. With that, the difference that I have seen are the people that went into IT just for a good job vs. other people who put in countless hours to learn and research various different options so that they could make good decisions that would help their companies grow and become leaders in their respective industries.
Prioritizing IT Initiatives: Customers Guide Modernization Choices
We (My team and I) research a lot of the market trends, what other companies like us are doing differently than we are, trying new things, testing out potential operational changes in order to make sure that we are always on the cutting edge of technology. Our customers are always first and foremost and we always look for different paths we could take that would help us achieve what our customers expect. Our customers are two different types of people, folks that are our agents out in the field constantly working to make sure we are efficient in every aspect and there are our customers that are in the Insurance industry covering all aspects of Insurance claims ranging from truck accidents to a catastrophic event.

As we continue to grow in this industry and being the largest privately held company in this space, we look at all aspects of our development along with others to ensure our controls, processes, and governance stay aligned with the pace of expansion, and that we remain consistent in how we protect client data, meet compliance expectations, and maintain continuity across every system and team.
