Markel's Executive Joins Hourly.Io As Head Of Underwriting

Insurance CIO Outlook | Tuesday, August 02, 2022

Jerico Vinsonhaler joins the Hourly team to provide his experience and help them grow in the industry.

FREMONT, CA: "We're thrilled to welcome Jerico to the Hourly team," said Eilam. "Jerico is a top player in the industry and brings years of insight and experience to Hourly. In her new role, Jerico will help us grow and make workers' comp and payroll a whole lot easier for small businesses."

Jerico Vinsonhaler is the new Head of Underwriting at, a fast-growing payroll and workers' compensation startup. As the head of Markel's underwriting strategy, Vinsonhaler spent 20 years in that position.

Vinsonhaler will be responsible for directing Hourly's overall underwriting strategy and portfolio management, as well as handling the underwriting team as Head of Underwriting.

"Hourly is the only player in the industry that is integrating real-time data from the field, payroll, and workers' comp," said Vinsonhaler. "What really drew me to the company was the impact it could have on employers and employees. Because we have the opportunity to engage directly with both on a daily basis, we see labor costs in real time which means premiums are accurate, claims are reduced, and workers' comp insurance ultimately becomes more affordable for everyone."

This new opportunity will enable Vinsonhaler to join an industry veteran in Tomer Eilam, who previously served as the Chief Actuary for Atlas Insurance. She is currently serving as the Chief Analytics & Risk Officer for Hourly. Founded in 2018, Hourly simplifies paying and insuring hourly workers through its full-service platform and bridges the gap between workers' compensation, payroll, and time tracking.
