Remedy Partners
One-Stop-Shop for Managing Value-based Payment Programs

When the development of the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) program was underway, an organization named Remedy Partners actively contributed to the project by working hand in glove with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Soon enough, the firm emerged as one of the largest Awardee Conveners (at-risk general contractors) for CMS, after they introduced the idea of bundled payments to provider-focused programs. “We began this initiative by preaching the importance of bundled payments in the future of healthcare reimbursement. Fortunately, Remedy was successful in attracting almost one-thousand participants who shared our vision and were willing to take risk along side of Remedy,” said, Chris Garcia, Chief Executive Officer. Today, Remedy Partners programs exist in 45 states and are improving outcomes for approximately 200,000 Medicare beneficiaries annually.

Engaging initially with northeastern hospitals, the firm has expanded over the years, now working nationally with acute care hospitals, physician groups and post-acute providers. Today, Remedy has become a risk partner with hospitals, physician groups, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies, working side-by-side to develop and manage bundled payment programs for CMS, commercial health insurers, employers, and Accountable Care Organizations across 47 states.

By developing and managing episodic payment programs in partnership with leading healthcare organizations, Remedy enables the improvement of the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery. They empower payers, employers, and at-risk providers to organize and finance healthcare delivery through the bundled payment model that connects financial and performance accountability for clinically-defined episodes of care.

Remedy Partners’ flagship platform, Episode Connect, combines the best of modern technology with broad experience from all sides of the healthcare delivery system to offer best-in-class enterprise software solutions for both providers and payers. “The tools available today in the market do not provide a comprehensive solution for managing bundled payments and episodes of care programs,” states Ed Zecchini, Chief Information Officer. With integrated data feeds, Episode ConnectTM provides transparency to all the different providers that are involved in the episode of care and creates episode continuity. Remedy’s suite offers actionable intelligence, enabling participating partners to forecast and devise plans to mitigate risks and identify opportunities.

Our aim is to make quality improvement in the new healthcare environment easy

The firm’s analytical tools help their clients in predicting and developing care redesign programs based on a broad foundation of performance, historical, and national data.

Chris explains that in the early days of engagement, the challenge is to educate clients about the details of program structure, the risks that they are assuming and how to manage that risk. Episode Connect collects real-time admission and ongoing clinical data as additional services are performed throughout an episode. With each new input, Episode Connect’s prediction engine develops a higher level of confidence of each patient’s bundle attribution, most ideal next site of care, and a measure of their risk of readmission. This is built on top of a machine learning engine that learns an organization’s coding patterns and common errors and compares it with their entire database to assist them in making the best possible decisions over time.

Through Episode Connect, the firm delivers a cloud based enterprise software solution that functions as a complete operating system for managing value-based payment programs. Episode Connect supports nearly every care improvement effort and a variety of important processes from administration to care coordination, which makes it steer ahead of the competition curve. The platform is highly adaptable to an organization’s existing systems and care delivery preferences, thus eliminating costly workflow redundancies. “Our aim is to provide technology assets and services to assist in quality improvement initiatives in the new healthcare environment, and our plan is to continue expanding our footprint as the premiere operating system for all new delivery and payment models,” adds Ed. With an extremely innovative work culture, highly ambitious leadership, and a well-honed vision of healthcare alternatives, Remedy aims to positively transform healthcare in the near future.
